The paper represents a detailed study of the site installation for real-time monitoring of a rainfall-induced landslide located in Meghalaya, India. A detailed installation process of the sensors which include a rain gauge, vibrating wire (VW) piezometer, tensiometer, and VW inclinometer for monitoring rainfall patterns, groundwater level, matric suction, and slope displacement, respectively. All the sensors are used to analyze the slope behavior under the influence of seasonal precipitation in the area. The failure mechanism of the soil slope in Mawiongrim, Meghalaya region, under the influence of soil, is studied using the data collected from the sensors. The data are collected in a logger and transferred using a GPRS network with a SIM card attached to it. The data logger is located on-site and powered by a solar panel powered by a battery. A survey done on the area using the GPRS technique is also presented. ARC GIS is a helpful tool for preparing a 3-D model of the slope. The data collected from the monitoring systems shows the effects of rainfall on slope stability. The data obtained from the study are further used in developing prediction models for rainfall-induced landslides.

摘要
