Key features of the designed WLS magnet are as follows: (1) use of metal insulation winding techniques for self-protection of the magnet as well as reducing charging delay; (2) multi-width configuration to maximize the performance of the magnet with limited conductor usage; (3) use of cold iron core to maximize magnetic field; and (4) liquid helium free conduction cooling operation to reduce operation cost. This chapter describes the design and analysis of the HTS WLS magnet considering the key features of the magnet.
