The Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region, a critical ecological zone, is increasingly impacted by climate change and anthropogenic alterations in land cover. These changes significantly disrupt the structure and functioning of terrestrial ecosystems, which are vital for the health of soil, water, and atmospheric systems, and consequently, for regional sustainable development. The complexity of these mountainous regions, exacerbated by challenges like mountain shadows, data insufficiencies, and technical limitations, has traditionally hindered research efforts aimed at promoting sustainability. This study addresses these challenges by integrating advanced methodologies and innovative tools, with a focus on key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relevant to the HKH region, including SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
