Cochlear implantation, probably the best invention of the last century, has proved to be a boon for people with severe to profound hearing loss. However, the surgery performed for electrode insertion into the cochlea puts the surrounding structures within the temporal bone, vestibular system being one among them, at risk for iatrogenic damage. This chapter discusses the consequences of cochlear implantation on the vestibular health, and the consequences of post-implantation vestibular damage on various aspects of life, especially if ignored or not managed effectively.
