Design Learning from Nature
摘要
Nature has shaped the Earth into its present form through 3.8 billion years of evolution. This process has involved countless instances of “design,” correction, selection, and elimination. Although humanity has yet to grasp the essence of nature, we can still gain insights into the fundamental laws and operational logic of natural creation, such as “adaptation,” “efficiency,” and “interdependence.” Undoubtedly, if we are to learn about sustainable design, nature is our best teacher. The imitation and study of nature in terms of materials, forms, structures, principles, and systems are the explorations and practices that designers undertake under this philosophy.
