Module 2—The Background
摘要
This module overturns our notion of people travelling and generating new geographical knowledge only in the context of the fifteenth-century discoveries, and captures instead the mobility that was visible in the European Middle Ages, or what we call here the Global Middle Ages. This mobility was partly due to a curiosity about lands beyond Europe, and was partly the result of a renewed knowledge that was then coming into Europe of countries and polities along the Silk Routes.
