This study aims at investigating the heat transfer capabilities of a bio-surfactant solution, specifically coco glucoside, in pool boiling experiments. The experiments involved saturated boiling of Isopropanol on a smooth copper surface, with different concentrations of bio-surfactant added to the fluids. The excess superheat and heat transfer coefficients in case of pool boiling are determined and analyzed with respect to heat flux and concentration of surfactant. The experimental results were compared for pure liquid without any additives and with addition of coco glucoside. Three levels of surfactant concentration are studied which are 0.5 ml, 1 ml, and 1.5 ml in 100 ml of isopropanol. The heat transfer coefficients are observed to be growing with heat flux and concentration. The maximum HTC was found to be 3797 W/m2.K at 1.5 ml of surfactant concentration. Thus, coco glucoside enhances pool boiling heat transfer, showing promise as eco-friendly alternative to synthetic surfactants in heat applications.

摘要
