Thermal Performance Enhancement of Spiral Solar Thermal Energy Harvesting System by Application of Phase Change Material Filled Insert
摘要
The thermal performance of the spiral solar thermal energy harvesting system (STEHs) based on a flat plate collector was evaluated by an investigational study. For the purpose of the investigation, a PCM-filled insert was inserted into the fluid flow lines. Utilizing a PCM-filled insert led to a substantial enhancement in the performance of SEHs, resulting in a maximum instantaneous efficiency of 68.11% under particular conditions. These conditions included a flow rate of 1.5 L per minute, an intensity of 400 Watts per square meter, and an inclination angle of 55°. A maximum enhancement of 18.51% is seen when the PCM-filled insert is used in comparison with the fluid-flowing tube that does not contain an insert. The water is used as the working fluid in this study.
