A Real-Time Indian Sign Language Recognition App for Improved Accessibility
摘要
The Indian Sign Language (ISL) is mostly acknowledged and used among individuals with hearing and/or speech impairments. We noticed that even with the rich cultural diversity of India, the awareness and exposure to Indian Sign Language (ISL) remain on a low tier among the Indian population. This lack of awareness among people often contributes to social and economic marginalization of differently-abled individuals. This research aims to bridge the communication gap, to create social and socio-economic accessibility for all, regardless of their disabilities. Our paper aims to create a society where communication barriers are minimized, and opportunities for participation are maximized. Our research offers a solution that can integrate machine learning techniques with a UI to access and maneuver not only for differently-abled persons but also create awareness of the ISL usage across India can provide the world with a revolutionary application.
