A Take-Back Mechanism for End-of-Life Tires Under Extended Producer Responsibility
摘要
This study proposes a take-back mechanism for collecting end-of-life tires (ELTs) from the consumers by considering their willingness to return. This mechanism involves the local tire repairing shop owners as take-back agents and their shops as local collection centers. A “multi-period mixed integer nonlinear programming (MP-MINLP)” model is also developed to maximize the total profit of the take-back agent by modeling its operations. The BONMIN solver in GAMS is used to run the developed MP-MINLP model. By using a case study of Indian scenario, it is found that the proposed mechanism has the capability to provide good profits to the take-back agents. This will boost the ELT collection from the consumers and thus, EPR implementation in tire industry.
