One major constraint concerning the visually impaired relates to public transport, where it is very difficult to recognize buses. Often, these limits propel them into reliance on friends and greatly reduce mobility, which automatically curtails freedom at the individual level. There is a dire need looming in the near future for all-in-one cutting-edge equipment to assist visually impaired persons in district recognition of buses and routes they ply in real time. To that effect, the proposed solution is the development of the Smart Bus Number Recognition and Audio Assistance System using the Raspberry Pi. In this paper, an intelligent system that makes use of advanced techniques of image processing, OCR, and speech synthesis in order to detect the bus numbers and announce them in real time has been developed. It can help blind people in getting important information independently, without dependency on others. It therefore considers all the benefits that a cheap, flexible, and widely used platform like Raspberry Pi can offer, backed up by the best modern algorithms, to improve mobility, independence, and the general quality of life of persons with visual impairments.

摘要
