One of the optimal achievements can be achieved if an athlete has achievement motivation. The drive from within to achieve the goals that have been set along with support from the surrounding environment is a separate strength for athletes to excel. The purpose of this study was to find out how big the role of achievement motivation is in increasing the fighting spirit of Yogyakarta Special Region athletes in participating in multi-event championships after the Covid pandemic. The subjects used were 73 PORDA DIY 2022 athletes who came from measurable individual sports such as swimming, running athletics, and speed skating and also playing sports such as basketball, volleyball, football, and korfball. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection using questionnaires with google forms distributed through social media. The results showed that the motivation of athletes in the very high category was 9.49%, the high category was 32.12%, the medium category was 3.65, and the low category was 8.76%. The role of motivation that affects the fighting spirit of athletes is very diverse. For very high and high-category athletes, the role of motivation is more to external motivation because they are challenged by their teammates. Meanwhile, for the medium and low categories, the role of motivation is more on the internal desire and self-awareness to win.
