Studying materials from sustainable sources for fabrication of brake pads is essential as the asbestos-based brake pad materials have carcinogenic effects and these are phased out. Several researchers reported about the alternate materials to asbestos from sustainable sources for brake pad production. This research study highlights the function of certain potential environmentally conscious and best performed composite materials manufactured from agricultural wastes, such as banana peels, pineapple fiber, coconut fiber, rice husk dust, palm wastes, flax fibers, palm kernel shells, bagasse fiber, maize husk, and aramid fibers. In its last section, the article argues that the developed brake pads made from these non-hazardous materials should be used commercially or industrially.
