Development of Filament Extruder for the Manufacturing of 3D Printer Filaments
摘要
Additive manufacturing is now a popular method for creating 3D models using plastic materials. Additive manufacturing possesses the capacity to produce individual products with a certain degree of personalization. This is beneficial for both prototyping and manufacturing components made from various materials, such as metal and plastic. Currently, there is a restricted range of materials available for plastic 3D printing, which should be expanded over time. Therefore, the present work focuses on the development of a filament extruder to fulfill the booming demand for manufacturing filament for 3D printing. The extruder machine utilizes heat and a customized screw to compress the raw material, consequently extruding it into wire form through a nozzle with a diameter of 1.75 mm. The flexibility of the extruder for manufacturing the required filament is also evident in this context. Further, the experiments were performed by mechanical testing of fabricated parts that were prepared using the filaments made from the developed extruder. Additionally, plastic materials and their compositions can be further investigated for their future potential.
