Artificial Intelligence: Applications in Pediatric Oncology Imaging
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly emerging field of computer science that simulates human brain function and can design algorithms to perform human-like cognitive functions. Majority of the applications of AI in the real world, including the medical field, are based on the concept of machine learning (ML). ML is a subset of AI that enables the learning or training of computers. In other words, the machine can train itself to make decisions based on the input data and make predictions, based on the basis of input or training data provided. Deep learning (DL) is further a sub-domain of ML, where the algorithms are structured like neural networks. The immense utility of AI-based applications in medicine, nursing, and other healthcare-related sciences stems from the ability of these methods to efficiently generate electronic medical records instead of paper-based data. The present chapter deals with utility of AI in pediatric oncology imaging, its limitations and future perspectives.
