Smart Helmet: Fall Detection and Safety Features for Riders
摘要
This research aims to create a smart helmet with special technologies to increase the rider’s protection level. It also hosts many additional sensors like ADXL to detect falls, alcohol to analyze breath, GPS for location tracking, GSM for connecting, and IR to determine if the helmet is being used or not. These sensors can monitor if the rider has fallen, is drunk, or is wearing a helmet or not, which may result in an immediate alert. A primary element of this system is the Arduino, which controls all the safety measures. In any emergency, it will send a message along with the rider’s position, emergency details, and request for emergency services. The system demonstrated 98% accuracy in crash detection, 100% accuracy in helmet detection and alcohol detection, while GPS location tracking provided a precision of up to 5 m. Therefore, this research is a better, safer, and more efficient method of protecting riders.
