Bioactive Nanomaterials: Revolutionizing Biomedical Science
摘要
This chapter seeks to thoroughly investigate the developing discipline of bioactive nanomaterials and their transformative effect on biomedical research. We examined the definition and importance of these advanced materials, explored the various bioactive nanomaterials currently investigated, metallic, ceramic, polymeric, and carbon-based, and discussed their unique features supporting biomedical applications. Moreover, we will delve into the complex interactions between these nanomaterials and biological systems at both the molecular and cellular levels. A review of the extensive uses of bioactive nanoparticles in critical areas such as targeted drug delivery, tissue engineering, and diagnostics will constitute a significant section of this chapter. Essential for their safe and effective use in medicine, we will also address the salient aspects of their biocompatibility and potential toxicity. Lastly, we will discuss the prospects of this exciting topic, emphasizing the challenges that must be addressed to fully exploit the transformative potential of bioactive nanomaterials in revolutionizing biomedical research and enhancing human health.
