This chapter shows the unsynchronised process of rule setting on digital trade could portend the imminent danger of digital protectionism. In this regard, it proposes joint efforts from the WTO E-commerce Joint Statement Initiative, regional/plurilateral trade agreements, and regulatory collaboration, as well as a soft law approach and standards and efforts for harmonisation and bridging mechanisms.
