Southeast Asia, with its diverse cultures, thriving economies, and education systems aligned with global frameworks like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), faces challenges such as resource inequality and educational disparities. These issues underscore the need for school leaders and stakeholders across 11 countries featured in this volume to transform low-performing schools through school effectiveness and improvement initiatives. Within these efforts, school turnaround leadership has gained prominence as a key driver of change, requiring leaders to navigate complex challenges, such as resistance to reform and resource limitations, while fostering a shared vision for improvement. While much of the existing research on turnaround leadership has focused on Western contexts, this volume shifts the focus to Southeast Asia, aiming to explore effective turnaround leadership practices, including strategies, processes, and impacts. By doing so, this volume seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of how turnaround leadership can drive sustainable improvements in student outcomes across diverse educational landscapes.
