Methods of Analgesia
摘要
Pain is the most common reason for a patient to seek medical advice. The management of acute pain is crucial as inadequate/inappropriate management has been found to be associated with increased morbidity. Opioids have been the mainstay of analgesic regime for management of acute pain. They can be administered via various routes including intravenous, epidural, intrathecal, nerve block, etc. This chapter provides an overview of patient-controlled analgesia, neuraxial block, and peripheral nerve block techniques used for managing acute pain.
