The principles of physical examination of the respiratory system, the findings associated with common clinical conditions and their correlation with potential lung pathology have been discussed in the foregoing sections. It bears reminding that, as an example, the presence of bronchial breathing, egophony, whispering pectoriloquuy, increased vocal and tactile fremitus should all be aligned with each other since they all originate from conditions that increase the conductance of sound. For instance, a decrease in vocal fremitus is not compatible with the presence of bronchial breathing or egophony. In this chapter, an attempt will be made to discuss the correlations and inconsistencies between the findings on the physical examination of the chest.

摘要
