This paper provides an overview of the development of the TianQin space mission as well as a concise history of gravity experiments conducted in China. Over the past decade, seven workshops on TianQin project have been held to discuss the project's findings and to delineate future plans. In order to facilitate international collaboration on the project and to enhance its visibility within the international scientific community, an International Advisory Committee of the TianQin Mission has been constituted.
