Investigation on Wave Height Variation on Seismic Response of Monopile Foundation of Offshore Wind Turbines for Hooghly Delta Region
摘要
Offshore wind energy has gained significant attention as a sustainable alternative to conventional energy sources. However, the structural integrity of wind turbine foundations under varying environmental conditions remains a critical concern. Seasonal variations in wave height pose unique challenges to offshore structures, potentially affecting their stability and performance. This paper investigates the seismic response of the monopile foundation of a 5 MW offshore wind turbines subjected to seasonal variations in wave height considering Hooghly Delta region of Indian coastline. First, the monopile foundation was designed considering the meteorological loading at the Hooghly Delta coast. The potential against liquefaction at the Hooghly Delta coast was assessed considering the subsoil profile of the Hooghly Delta. The ground deformation profile was then evaluated by conducting nonlinear site response analysis. Finally, the seismic performance of the monopile foundation was assessed with the obtained ground deformation profile considering different possible wave heights. The findings of the study aim to provide valuable insights into the design and optimization of offshore wind farms in Hooghly coast considering the seasonal wave variations.
