Optical Character Recognition (OCR) with Text Generation Using Tesseract and PDF Editing Web Application Using Flask

Modern-day advancements have changed the way we access and use information. OCR which is the abbreviation of Optical Character Recognition is a technology that is responsible for bringing to us the feature of extraction of text from images that contain varying types of textual data. It helps by providing text in editable formats by performing text generation. At the same time, the mass popularity of the Portable Document Format which is abbreviated and popularly known as PDF is nothing but the files that have become essential for document sharing and archiving purposes. This research paper is an approach toward introducing a centralized web application that brings the technologies of both these worlds together to facilitate important purposes. This tries to do so by combining the functionalities of OCR and PDF editor, aiming to enhance text generation and document procurement with editing. The proposed web application enables users to perform text generation by extraction and also allows room for various PDF editing capabilities. This comes with features to extract text, edit it, and finally provide the user with a downloadable PDF file as a result. This web application which combines the features of modern-day popular technologies which are OCR and PDF serves as an important asset for a variety of organizations, industries, schools, etc. It is a user-friendly and well-designed implementation that makes it easy to use and understand.
