Technological advancements are rapidly transforming various aspects of life, including the hiring process. The integration of social media platforms into e-recruitment strategies has emerged as a promising approach for organizations seeking top talent. However, if we look for the next two decades, it is very important to anticipate the potential challenges that these technological advances may bring. This literature review explores the challenges and opportunities posed by technological advancements in e-recruitment over the next 20 years, with a particular focus on social media-based strategies. This study analyses 50 international journals that have Scopus index, narrowing down to 10 of the most relevant and specifically addressing the application of emerging technologies to e-recruitment. Key findings include AI in Recruitment, the key motives being early adopters of automated candidate screening, chatbots for engagement, and AI-driven decision-making among many others. It reviews potential challenges such as data privacy issues and highlights how organizations need to innovate more broadly, given the speed at which social media evolves. This analysis focuses on the emergent capacities of such technologies, including the potential reshaping effect of artificial intelligence (AI), affective computing, and predictive software on recruitment practices. These studies conclude that while technological advancements offer significant benefits in terms of efficiency and reach, organizations must carefully balance these advantages with considerations of fairness, transparency, and candidate experience to maximize the effectiveness of their e-recruitment strategies in the coming decades.
