AEON Living Lab Building: Decarbonisation Journey of a Small Business Enterprise in India
摘要
Buildings-related carbon emission and energy intensity have been extensively researched and represented in the literature over the last decade. However, few representations of small buildings belonging to small and medium enterprises have significantly reduced their energy and emissions intensity. The case study presents the initiatives of AEON, an Indian integrated building design consulting firm, in transforming their headquarters office into a low-carbon, energy-efficient, and technology-integrated building. This building, which acts as a ‘living lab’ for sustainable building technologies, showcases best practices for more environmentally friendly and productive work environments in small office buildings. Small office buildings are a majority stock in developing and emerging economies like India, and the case study also represents the economic benefits that can be reaped throughout the building lifecycle by still being on the right side of the environment and society.
