Open Source Projects for AI-based Image and Video Coding
摘要
Open source projects play a pivotal role in advancing AI-based image and video coding technologies by fostering collaborations, sharing knowledge, and inspiring innovations. This chapter introduces several prominent open source projects that are shaping the landscape of AI-based image and video compression. It begins by highlighting the significance of open source contributions in driving accessibility, inclusivity, and efficiency in AI research. The chapter provides an overview of key projects, including CompressAI, a library offering tools for end-to-end image and video compression, and OpenVVC, a real-time software decoder aligned with the H.266/VVC standard. The chapter then delves into two novel open source projects developed for deep learning-based compression, including OpenDIC and OpenDMC. OpenDIC focuses on single-frame image compression using state-of-the-art algorithms implemented in frameworks like MindSpore and PyTorch, while OpenDMC extends these principles to Multi-frame video compressionmulti-frame video compression. Both projects offer comprehensive algorithm repositories to facilitate further research and development.
