The agriculture sector is facing many problems as a result of direct and indirect consequences of climate change, eventually disturbing the agricultural productivity and raising concerns on global food security. Therefore, there is an urgent need to cope up agriculture with the changing climatic conditions and sustain crop yields. In this juncture, the crop diversification and inclusion of stress-resistant varieties in the cropping system were gaining momentum. Crop diversification lowers the chance of total crop failure because a single crop under these unpredictable weather conditions might result in significant losses. On the other hand, climate-resilient varieties were developed either through breeding or through genetic modification to withstand biotic and abiotic stresses and produce stable yields. Further, when the strategies were administered agronomically using climate-adaptive techniques and technologies, in particular through sustainable agricultural practices like conservation agriculture, agroforestry, etc., with the goal of improving water use efficiency, carbon restoration, and management of pests and diseases further reduced environmental impacts and induced system sustainability.
