Adaptation of Conservation Agriculture as Climate-Smart Technology for Food Crops

Climate change is causing increasing challenges to global agriculture, such as more frequent and intense weather events, shifting rainfall patterns, and rising temperatures. In this situation, it is very important to adopt climate-smart technologies to make the agricultural system more sustainable and resilient. An approach to farming known as conservation agriculture (CA), which emphasizes the use of environmentally friendly techniques to improve soil quality, water management, and biodiversity, is gaining traction as a potentially useful strategy for mitigating the negative effects of climate change on agricultural production. Conservation agricultural practices like permanent soil cover, minimum soil disturbance, crop rotation, and diversification help to enhance the resilience of crops against biotic and abiotic stresses. Conservation of water resources, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and preservation of biodiversity integrate conservation agriculture with the principles of climate-smart agriculture. Conservation agriculture, which promotes soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity, is a promising climate-smart technology for food crops.
