The ground motion behavior due to machine-induced vibration is generally monitored in terms of the peak particle velocity (PPV). The current investigation intends to determine the PPV on the ground surface and inside a geocell reinforced soil-foundation system through numerical modeling. The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of geocell reinforcement on the PPV of a dynamically loaded unreinforced and geocell reinforced soil-foundation system. The numerical model is developed using ABAQUS based on the three-dimensional finite element technique, and it is validated using the results from previously published literature. Results ensure that the geocell reinforcement can substantially reduce the PPV on the ground surface and inside the soil-foundation system when subjected to dynamic loadings. The findings of this work can be helpful in designing geocell reinforced soil-foundation systems for a wide variety of applications under dynamic conditions.

摘要
