Envisioning Bionic Life in the Digitized World Using Cyborg Technology

In a world evolving toward augmentation, scientists are actively exploring ideas to transform humans into cyborgs. Interestingly, a significant portion of the population has already embraced the notion of being a “cyborg” in their daily lives. This paper delves into the positive aspects of this technological transformation, envisioning a future enriched with resources. By merging cybernetics with organisms, the synthesis of cyborgs becomes apparent. This technology tackles the intricate fusion of chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering with the human body's organs, creating a synergy of nerves and circuit wires. Essentially, it involves incorporating machinery into the human body, resulting in an automated human being. Bioengineered augmentations, such as those designed to monitor physiological signals and stimulate tissue for recovery, exemplify the potential benefits. Coined by Australian scientist Manfred Clynes in 1960, cyborg technology presents opportunities beyond conventional human capabilities. A few well-established examples including cochlear implants, neuroprosthetics, and bionics eye and heart pacemakers, expertly implanted by medical professionals. Despite prevalent concerns associating robots or cyborgs with global destruction, this manuscript emphasizes the advantageous side of technology. Innovations in conformal and soft electronic materials have enabled the development of devices seamlessly blending with the curvilinear, responsive, fragile, and flexible human frame. In essence, this paper aims to present an optimistic perspective and shed light on the potential benefits of Cyborg technology for humanity.
