China’s Digital Education in Global Landscape

In the GDEI, China ranks 9th, a relatively advanced position. National digital education strategic actions brought China into fast lane. China has solidly promoted the construction of basic education data, completing the establishment of three major education databases for schools, teachers, and students during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. China developed the Smart Education of China into a comprehensive platform of public educational services, for primary and secondary schools, vocational education, and higher education. In terms of cultivating students’ digital literacy, China has developed information technology curriculum standards for different stages and types of education, including primary, middle, and high schools, as well as vocational education. China’s digital education has achieved significant results in system construction. Particularly, it has obvious advantages in the construction of digital education infrastructure and online courses.
