Personalized and Gamified MOOCs to Enhance Learning: A Classification Approach for Learners Based on Ontology
摘要
Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) have democratized access to education, gaining popularity due to their accessibility and affordability. However, they frequently face challenges related to their low learner engagement and completion rates. This study aimed to enhance learner engagement and skill development by proposing a gamified personalized MOOCs model. This method integrates gamification elements to boost student interaction and employs ontologies to classify learners, allowing for the adaptation of learning resources and activities according to individual interests and goals. The main outcomes indicated that the combined strategies of gamification and personalization can significantly increase student participation and course completion rates. Therefore, educational institutions, MOOC providers, and instructional designers should prioritize the adoption of adaptive and gamified experiences to improve the overall effectiveness of online learning platforms.
