With the large-scale commercial use of 5G, 6G research has become a new hot topic in the mobile communication industry. Countries and regions with advanced communication market globally have successively published 6G R&D plans. People can't help but ask why start 6G research so early when 5G is still in its growth stage and has not brought us a noticeable experience upgrade. The initial vision of 5G has not been realised yet. This chapter analyses why we should study 6G as early as possible from the perspectives of social development, sustainable development of the mobile communication industry, new scenarios and demands towards 2030, problems and challenges faced by the current network development, and the development trend of deep integration of ICDT.
