Technology and Innovation in Service Delivery
摘要
This chapter explores the transformative impact of technology on urban service delivery in Bangladesh, focusing on e-governance, smart city initiatives, and digital governance. E-governance tools like digital birth registration and online service portals have enhanced efficiency and transparency. However, challenges like inadequate infrastructure, low digital literacy, and cybersecurity concerns persist. Smart city initiatives show promise in improving services like transportation, waste management, and public safety but face barriers including limited funding, weak governance, and poor inter-agency coordination. The chapter also highlights the role of social media in fostering real-time citizen feedback and promoting government accountability. Despite its potential, issues like misinformation, digital exclusion, and regulatory limitations hinder its effectiveness. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the need for integrated digital governance strategies that align technological innovations with institutional strengthening and active public participation to ensure sustainable urban development.
