In the late Ming and early Qing periods, Confucians focused on ‘the reflection and transcendence of the evolution of Ming-dynasty Neo-Confucianism (the Lu-Wang and Cheng-Zhu schools), and shifted towards earnest moral practices to reconstruct the orthodoxy of Confucianism’.
