Artificial intelligence (AI) is standing at an important point as its capabilities are rapidly improving across several areas. Titled Beyond AI: Designing with Tomorrow, this research paper relates to the leading-edge technologies driving the advance of artificial intelligence and seeks impetuous innovation possibilities that go further than what has been accomplished. The research analysis, the evolution, progress, and applicability of a few emerging key AI technologies such as deep learning (DL), natural language processing (NLP), computer vision or reinforcement learning in multiple industry domains with specific reference to healthcare. This study has two objectives: to investigate the latest AI technologies and, identify new applications that go beyond traditional activities aimed at addressing current challenges while capturing novel opportunities. This study aims to provide new approaches that can inform novel paradigms and initiate actionable plans in response by revisiting recent advances from the sustainability science perspective. In building upon existing literature and highlighting areas of knowledge deficiency, this paper seeks to contribute to the conversation about how AI is being used today versus what it could do tomorrow in shaping solutions for society advancement as a whole.
