Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) play a vital role in enhancing road safety, and traffic management, and providing infotainment services. Various protocols have been developed to facilitate communication in VANETs, each with its advantages and limitations. This paper shows a comparative analysis of different VANET protocols, mentioning their performance, scalability, and reliability. It also illustrates the need for a hybrid protocol using satellite communication and GPS networks to overcome existing issues and challenges thus improving overall system efficiency.
