Advances in Spinal Surgery: 3D Printing, Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence
摘要
Spine surgery is amid a technological revolution that will affect pre-, intra-, and postoperative care. In large part, this is due to rapid advancements in three-dimensional (3D) printing, augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI), all of which are being applied to spine in myriad ways. In brief, 3D printing has been used for the creation of many novel spinal implants, including those that are patient-specific, and will continue to yield further structural innovations. AR has become a common surgical adjunct to guide intuitive intraoperative navigation and will likely integrate even more features that will improve operative precision. AI has revolutionized how we address data analysis and risk prediction, and it holds nearly unlimited potential as a tool to provide more personalized patient care. This chapter presents a thorough overview of 3D printing, AR, and AI in spine surgery. It furthermore offers a perspective on the future of these technologies from the perspective of the practicing spine surgeon.
