Red mud and its filtrate, in the process of entering the groundwater body, not only bring their own pollutants, but also bring a large amount of sulfate and calcium ions into the groundwater body through the solute filtration effect, causing secondary pollution. Other ions in red mud also have a significant impact on water quality. Due to the harmful substances contained in red mud, with the washing of rainwater, red mud filtrate seeps into the soil water system and rivers, causing serious pollution to groundwater, surface water and the surrounding environment. At the same time, after the surface of the red mud storage is dried, it will produce dust in windy days, causing pollution to the atmosphere and the surrounding environment.
