The emergence and incidence of zoonotic pathogens represent a formidable challenge to both the veterinary and public health sectors, particularly in the context of swine husbandry. The chapter delineates critical biosecurity interventions necessary to restrict and control disease transmission within swine production systems, with a special emphasis on zoonotic diseases. A systematic implementation of stringent hygiene protocols, enforced bio-access controls, and the establishment of comprehensive animal health protocols are fundamental components in curtailing the incidence and spread of infectious agents. Additionally, epidemiological surveillance and capacity building regarding biosecurity among stakeholders are indispensable for fortifying farm resilience against zoonotic diseases. The chapter elaborates on the infrastructural requirements and operational biosecurity protocols necessary for effective disease prevention and control.
