Design and Implementation of an Automated Brake Binding Detection System for Enhanced Safety in Indian Railways
摘要
In a big and intricate network like Indian Railways, the safety of railway operations is critical. Brake binding, in which the brakes stay engaged when they need to be released, is one of the major safety issues. This can lead to serious wear and tear and even possible safety risks. The project aims at developing and deploying an automatic brake binding detection system so that railway safety can be improved. It tracks the speed change of a train when it is running, based on real-time monitoring of braking systems by incorporating modern sensor technology and data analytics. This further enables the system to notify operators and maintenance personnel of identifying brake binding, thus making it possible to take timely action so that the possibilities of accidents can be reduced. System also considers design of user interfaces suited for real-time monitoring of the system and connecting sensors to the railway infrastructure. Prototype tests have been done, which have been effective for the reduction of brake binding events that improve safety in the operation and efficiency. Safety is improved, as is the lifespan of railroad parts as well as a cutback on maintenance in accident prevention through an automated detection system. In summary, this innovative approach leads to very significant advancements of railway safety technology, empowering the Indian Railways with proactive maintenance capabilities and thereby making train operations more dependable and safe.
