The proposed review paper presents an introduction to image enhancement techniques, and how these techniques can bring revolutionary changes to the healthcare sector and how these techniques can help in tackling future massacres and pandemics. Upon examining existing work, and carefully analyzing proposed methodologies, it can be derived how some of the image enhancement techniques can help bring changes to the healthcare sector. X-ray image reports helped us identify early symptoms of COVID-19, and using image enhancement for X-ray images can help speed up this process by avoiding the need for checking each image manually for smallest of the details. This paper dives deeper and makes an effort in understanding these image enhancement techniques, learning what type of medical images can be enhanced and what possible changes it may bring. Regulatory approvals, clinical validation, and cost are the main reasons why these enhancement systems are not yet widely accepted and integrated in current medical practices, improving accuracy and reliability by training near perfect models can help eliminate the current limitations.
