Treatment with anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) exerts a certain degree of ameliorative effect on brain activity and cognitive functioning. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of electroencephalogram (EEG) features during and after AEDs treatment for Benign Epilepsy of Childhood with Centrotemporal Spikes (BECTS) patients. Experimental results demonstrated an increase in \(\alpha \) band activity during AEDs treatment and a decline in cognitive performance accompanied by a high kurtosis value. Following the treatment with AEDs, there was a reduction in \(\alpha \) band activity and an improvement in cognitive performance, accompanied by a narrowing of the inter-individual differences. The results indicate that AEDs may enhance cognitive function by suppressing \(\alpha \) band activity, which facilitating the guided use of AEDs and cognitive enhancement.
