Climate Finance: Valuing Nature, Action, Global Movements, and Local Framings
摘要
Notably, climate funding will be essential for supporting the sector in responding to and transitioning from its current path as much of economic activity shifts towards a low-carbon economy, increasing resilience. This chapter contributes to the literature on climate funding and is guided by four main focal points: assessing nature, funding for action, seeing global scales and being local. The paper explores the theoretical basis of economic appraisal of nature and asserts that market mechanisms often overlook ecosystems, as well biodiversity. It promotes a holistic appraisal of the ecology, society, and culture in nature. In this context, the essay discusses how climate finance acts as an enabler to drive action and argues that financial flows must converge with climate objectives besides calling for new financing mechanisms capable of mobilizing investment in sustainable development. State policy, international cooperation, and climate finance agendas are influenced by the Paris Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals. The study concludes with a theoretical synthesis that bridges the world attention on global imperatives and how they can inform real-world context, locally. It posits a more holistic, inclusive approach to climate fund management that upholds planet and people prosperity.
