As the global community faces escalating climate challenges, the roles of the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), and International Monetary Fund (IMF) are pivotal in advancing sustainable and climate resilience. This paper explores key initiatives from each of these international institutions that contribute to global sustainability efforts. The UN’s initiatives include the Paris Agreement, which sets international climate targets; the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing a comprehensive framework for addressing various global challenges; the Green Climate Fund (GCF), supporting climate action in developing countries; the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), offering environmental leadership and policy guidance; and the Global Compact, promoting corporate sustainability. The WTO’s contributions involve the Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) to promote sustainable trade, integrating environmental policies into trade practices, supporting sustainable development through the Committees on Trade and Environment, and fostering green technology trade through the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Agreement. The IMF’s role includes the resilience and Sustainable Trust (RST) to support climate adaptation, integrating climate risks into fiscal policies, providing technical assistance, and supporting debt relief for climate action. Each of these initiatives plays a crucial role in shaping effective responses to climate change and fostering sustainable development. This chapter concludes with recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of these institutions’ roles in sustainability, including climate risks into economic policies, promoting equity in sustainability efforts, and supporting innovation in green technologies. The collaborative efforts of the UN, WTO, and IMF are essential for achieving long-term sustainability and resilience in a rapidly changing world.

摘要
