Studies on lobbying are gaining strength abroad under the democratic principle of equality among citizens in relation to their participation in politics. In Brazil, after twenty years under the influence of corporate donations, corporations’ participation as campaign funders was contested by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which banned large donors from the electoral process. This change opens up ways to analyze the behavior of parliamentarians after the ban. Through semistructured interviews, we aim to understand the strategies of corporate lobbying groups in achieving their legislative goals in a scenario in which money loses strength to symbolic elements. This loss of strength has begun to guide the relationship between corporate lobbyists and Brazilian federal deputies.
