In a progressively interwoven world, productive conflict resolution depends significantly on the cardinal rules of multilateralism and the tactical utilisation of international treaties. This Chapter explores how navigating these frameworks can increase endeavours toward conflict resolution and aid the ‘Silencing the Gun’ initiative, which focuses to terminate armed conflicts and advance peace globally. Multilateralism, which is cooperation among multiple countries or organisations, provides a platform for collective action, dialogue, and the establishment of widely acceptable norms and agreements which has the potential to resolve the underlying causes of conflict. On the other hand, international treaties play a pivotal role by formalising commitments, setting legal standards, and creating mechanisms for enforcement and accountability. The concept ‘Silencing the Guns initiative’ is an aspiring attempt to end wars and violence which benefits from a robust multilateral approach and the strategic implementation of treaties. Through analyses of successful case studies and existing frameworks, this chapter portrays how multilateral collaboration and treaty-based agreements can contribute to de-escalating conflicts, fostering sustainable peace and improving post-conflict recovery. The chapter also interrogates the challenges and opportunities inherent in this approach, including the need for inclusive diplomacy, effective enforcement mechanisms and the alignment of national and international interests. Through an in-depth analysis, the chapter provides a perception of advancing multilateral efforts and treaty applications to improve global peace and stability.
