Across the globe, Africa remains one of the continents trapped in a cycle of violent conflicts, despite concerted efforts within and outside the region to abate increasing conflicts. Despite valiant efforts to address the scourge of armed conflict in Africa by African countries, including their Western counterparts and international organizations, most African nations have remained mired in a cycle of intra-state conflicts with serious consequences for human security. This challenge informed the adoption of Silencing the Guns (STG), which forms the nucleus of the Africa Union 2063 sustainable development agenda. Therefore, this chapter will summarize or reflect on the theory and practice of the STG in Africa.

摘要
