This chapter provides a frame of reference to “Social Work Research: Methodologies in Fields of Practice,” the subject under which this book has been conceptualized. Research in Social Work in this framework, as described in the opening section, underlines research-practice continuum and visibilizes “fields of practice.” In this, it is emphasized that “fields of practice” converges with research methods and processes paving pathways toward “methodologies in/of practice” committed to a knowledge that is contextual, located, and empowering to the subject under the study. Following this, it is alluded that conceptualization of research and its methodologies in such locations mandates a contextualization process, and an adoption of decolonial-indigenous actionable principles where research, fields, practice, and value meet. Given this, the last part of this chapter captures the structure and gives an outline of chapters across five sections—illustrations of social work research and practice pertaining to rural tribal realities, women, children and youth, and persons with disabilities in this book.
